The standard material used for filtering motor oils is filter paper based on cellulose fibres impregnated with special phenolic and epoxy resins, which help to protect from high temperature and the aggressive chemical substances oil contains or resulted from oil degradation. Modern filter media, in particular those designed for synthetic oils filtering are made with an addition of artificial fibres or totally artificial filtering media. It results from greater loading of the filter medium. For filter absorptivity, the multilayer materials are applied, which have various structure and filtering properties for each layer. Creating such a material brings an effect of selective separation of contaminants in each layer, which significantly increases the contamination absorptivity with the required level of oil filtering efficiency.
